Have you ever seen the
movie Groundhog Day ? I loved it! If you have
seen it I bet you were like me and wondered just
what you could do if you had the chance to relive
the same day over and over again.
I might actually be able to bring some organization
to my life! Oh, I know, I could plan on starting my
diet---tomorrow. Now wouldn’t that be cool! All the
chocolate glazed doughnuts I could eat today. Or I
could write a novel---at least the perfect opening.
Interesting. If I wrote every day how much better a
writer would I be in...say, a year? How much more
would I have learned?
In Groundhog Day Bill Murray decided he
wanted to learn how to play the piano. In the
beginning, he was so awful. His fingers stumbled
across the keys. I cringed right along with his
instructor. But you know what? He went back every
day, and he improved.
When I first joined RWA and our local chapter, we
had visiting authors who spoke to our group. They
spoke on varied topics but the one thing they all
said was to write every day. It’s like anything
else...the more you do it, the better you get.
